My garden, in every season is my pride and joy. I have a small green house and beginning in February it is there that I spend my time planning the crops for Spring, Summer and Autumn.
Every year I try 2 or 3 new seeds, usually from Italy. I have had luck with some of them, the rest, I don't blame, I tell myself it was my fault for being too impatient, not doing my homework and just expecting too much.
Few years ago I found a Meyer lemon tree, by late summer it was loaded with blossoms which began to produce lemons by the tons. I love my lemon tree, the leaves are glossy, the blossoms come with incredible perfume and the lemons are the best I ever had.
With them I make huge batches of Limoncello using only the peel, I freeze the juice and sometimes I make lemon gelato. Last fall I added some sugar to a batch of defrosted lemon juice wanting to make, in fact, some gelato. Thank goodness I tasted it because it was instead chicken broth. Lesson for the day: label everything.
